These are the days when yellow flowers bloom.

The Big Canvas

This is it! My first real canvas (as opposed to burlap and striped fabric).

It’s 40x30x3 1/2 inches deep.

Corners tucked.

Ready for gesso.

Still working on the stripes at the same time.

Using the big brush for this.

Thawing out the gesso.

I could hear the birds outside the window as I worked. Happy day!

Putting the finishing touches on this cute little Heart Labyrinth piece. It will be on display next time you come visit me at Sessions Street Studios, 379 Campbell Hill Street, Marietta, Georgia.

The Sun Shines Through It

I’m happy with how this window project is starting out.

I used Liquitex gloss medium to transfer my art and poem to the glass.

Sunny day!

Found this old window to turn into art. Going to see if I can transfer my old wolf-themed poem onto glass.

Lovely moon.

Little Details

Finished writing out my narrative poem on the canvas.

Heat-setting the ink.

Hammering in the staples that didn’t make it all the way in with the staple gun.

Now for the fun-scary part — transferring my digital art onto the canvas.

Now we wait for it to dry!

Big Love

Red butterflies in flight.

I’ve been working on my biggest mixed-media piece ever, a new addition to my Infinity Heart series. I usually don’t post art here on my blog until it’s finished, but you can find some in-progress pics over at my Facebook page — click on the link at the top of my sidebar —->

I started this piece over a year ago, then let it sit for months. A recent inspirational boost by talented mixed-media artist Seth Apter has really helped it to take flight! I’ve combined my altered books with paper mache, and my digital art with collage, to create something entirely fresh and new. Check it out!
