These are the first three pieces in my new digital art series, The Heart Labyrinth Project. I love that these are 100% digital, but look similar to my mixed media pieces. I’m layering together my own photos, scans of my previous artwork, and original linework with a digital pen.

I normally limit my color palette when starting a new series, but right now I’m all over the place. My current process relies on unexpected color surprises. I start with one of my digital photos, and play with the color in Photoshop until I come up with something I like. Then I crop in close to the most interesting part.

I’ve got my sites set on Valentine’s Day! My goal is two dozen pieces by the end of the month. Then I’ll pick twelve coordinating pieces to put in my folding screen, replacing the Liquid Topaz series in there right now.
